Our Mission is to empower Latino youths and build a strong community

Vision is to encourage youth to make a positive impact in our community.

How we going to achieve our vision?  

Youth members impact our community by educating others about their goals and implementing their ideas. Youth members will empower their group by using existing resources, create a support network, generate solutions and solve problems. 

Four words are: Impact, Community, Education and Empowerment (ICEE)

Core focus is a youth leadership and civic engagement by way of community programming and youth orientation activities; develop and coordinate activities for a community project, disseminate of information to the youth community regarding topics that are important and relevant to the youth.

Purpose is to provide a venue for Latino youths between ages 14 to 18 to have an active means of civic engagement in our community and become involved in the community by participating in community activities and develop a yearly project.

The award will be paid to the students upon confirmation of enrollment: it is intended to support the educational goals of the recipient and may be used for tuition or other expenses incurred in pursuit of the educational program.

ELIGIBILITY

• High School Senior from Waterbury, Connecticut who will graduate in June 
• You must be an active participant of Young Representative of Waterbury group
• You must complete 20 hrs. of volunteerism with a organization or Community Project
• You need to email your RESUME
• You must email a Portrait photo with the rest of your documents
• Plan to enroll in college in Fall 
• Provide a 1 Letters of recommendations by email, mail or completing the online form in this page
• Provide High School Transcripts by mail/ scan and email to: info@madre-latina.com
• Connecticut Resident
• Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Application must be postmarked by , (every year)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: In order to receive this award, recipients with parents (caregivers) are required to attend the Gala & Award reception. (Call for more info at 203-232-7779)

The Recipient will receive one (1) complimentary admission to the Gala & Award. Parents and Guess need to purchase their tickets for the event. For tickets please contact Yoellie Iglesias at 203-232-7779.
